Garmint Cleaners is an expanding dry cleaning business operating in Forest Park, IL. Adding home delivery/pickup and an application to their business, they were in need of a website to help promote both services. Along with the website, marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and business cards were essential to help bring awareness and help grow their brand. Photography was also requested to help populate the website and marketing materials.
With 50% of all web traffic coming from mobile devices, it's necessary to have a responsive website that is consistent across devices. Sites not optimized for mobile can cause frustration to the user and make them to leave entirely. Creating a seamless transition between devices allows the user experience consistent throughout desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone.
Already having a brand in place with logo, colors, & typography, the focus was to incorporate them in a clean design. The dark color theme and photography from the shoot were used as the backdrop for all the sections of the webpage. Editing the photos to make the people pop out from the background helps create contrast in type and color.
Building from scratch gave the opportunity to learn core concepts of HTML5 & CSS3 more in-depth. Having a better understanding helps working with frameworks and already existing code. Troubleshooting errors also provided problem solving skills that help to debug faster.
With full browser support, flexbox was used to develop the layout. It provides a simplistic way to build the structure as opposed to floats.
A zip code search was added to the main page to help customers see if they are in the delivery zone.
Creating a side navigation that only displays when you move the mouse helps to reduce space for a cleaner look.
Google Maps API lets you customize maps with your own content and imagery for display on web pages.
Code plugins help accelerate the development process to get the website live at a much quicker pace.
